On November 14, the IFCN-IPRAM, through the Training Entity – Regional Secretariat of the Environment and Natural Resources- held the first training course of the Rede SOS Vida Selvagem (“Red SOS Wildlife”), aimed at operative collaborators of this Network. It was attended by 60 participants from various institutions, such as Municipal and Volunteer Firefighters, Municipal Civil Protection, Republican National Guard, Nature Watchers, Forest Guards, as well as technicians from several municipalities. Different topics related to the conservation of wild birds, cetaceans and the LIFE Madeira Monk Seal project were addressed.

The animal collection project within the Rede SOS Vida Selvagem, is a continuity project, and aims to collect wounded or weakened wild animals throughout the Autonomous Region of Madeira, in order to treat them, when necessary, to later return them to nature.

This Network integrates:
* The SOS Monk Seal Network, framed in the project LIFE13 NAT/ES/ 000974,
* The Wild Birds SOS Network, framed in the LUMINAVES project (MAC/4.6c /157) in association with SPEA Madeira, and
* The Network of Strandings of Cetaceans of the Madeira Archipelago, coordinated by the Museum of the Whale.
