Bracelet with GPS successfully removed from a monk seal

A few days ago the bracelet with a GPS and a TDR (depth gauge), placed last year on the breeding female “Femea Y”, was successfully retired. This operation was performed by experienced technicians to recover the system without disturbing the animals.

This bracelet, the fourth placed in monk seal in the Desertas in the framework of the LIFE Madeira Monk Seal project, will allow to have more information about the movements in the sea of these animals, identifying potential critical habitats.
